A small-scale organization with short lines of communication and a very personal approach—that’s how I can summarize De Verzuimmakelaar in a nutshell,” says Elke Appelhof, HR Manager at Wiltec. “They really think along with us, are supportive, and look at absence management in a different, modern way. You don’t find that at every occupational health service provider.
Wiltec’s 30th Anniversary
Elke has now been working at Wiltec for a year, a specialist in the fields of Industry & Spray Technology, Safety & Workwear, and Office & Facility. ‘Everyone working smart and getting home safely’—that’s the mission. Nearly 400 employees work at this originally family-owned company. “Wiltec was founded in 1993 as a restart of a company whose history goes back to 1971. Last year, we celebrated our 30th anniversary.”
Employees Home Safely
The mission stems from the products and services Wiltec offers its clients. However, the phrase ‘Everyone home safely’ also applies to our own people. “We think it’s important that our employees feel safe at their workplace, both physically and mentally. So that every day, they go home healthy and with a good feeling. De Verzuimmakelaar supports us in this.”
Tailor-Made Solutions
What Elke really appreciates about the collaboration is the personal approach. “Our case manager Myrtille knows our organization and thinks along with us. We can act quickly, have frequent contact, and Myrtille is very flexible, which works very pleasantly. Moreover, she follows up on matters quickly. At De Verzuimmakelaar, they investigate what our organization needs; they provide tailor-made solutions. Together, we continuously look at what is best for our company. And the services are then tailored accordingly.”
Feedback
De Verzuimmakelaar is also open to feedback. “Through the Xpert Suite absence platform, we receive advice from the occupational physician. At De Verzuimmakelaar, this goes through the POB’er, the occupational health support practitioner. As a result, we sometimes have to wait a bit longer for the advice. We discussed this with Myrtille, and attention is paid to it. In good consultation, we determine together how things can be improved or sharpened again. That is very valuable.”
All Long-Term Absentees Back at Work
At the time of this interview, all long-term absentees were (partially) working in their own or adapted roles, or in another position within Wiltec. “By focusing on what people can still do and what they need to be able to work again, we have managed to achieve this. Myrtille thinks along about the build-up of hours, the tasks that fit within someone’s capacity, and possible alternative work. This makes it easier for us to have conversations with employees about how tasks can be shaped within the build-up of work. Our advantage is that we have many different work locations and a great diversity of roles. Combined with effective guidance, this enables us to keep people at work and to return them to their original jobs as quickly as possible.”
A Modern Approach
De Verzuimmakelaar is an occupational health service provider that looks at absence management and the optimal deployment of employees in a different way. “Their services are designed in a modern way, and they focus on possibilities. What I also like is how the role of case manager is fulfilled: that personal contact makes all the difference.”
